themes: non-human perspective, noise pollution
My project is addressing the severity of noise pollution that is contaminating the natural world and is making us desensitized. During my research I came to the conclusion that us as the human species just needs to listen and tune in more to our surroundings. We are so occupied by our own language, communication channels, and activities that we fill the space with it. I believe that in order for us to evolve towards a future where other species are also recognized by us as equal entities, we need to first listen better to them. We must be conscious about what we are giving power to by listening.
How can we learn to listen better to non-human entities if we ourselves have become deaf?
ENGAGE:
Observe what emotions the contrasting auditory stimuli evoke in you.1.
I also created an audio piece that represents the noise pollution of our urban cities. I gathered the sounds from an online archive and combined them to cause a counter effect to the previous audio.
The images displayed were taken by me in Hungary, in a forest and a natural quarry that has been put out to human destruction. I am curious about what thoughts, feelings and conclusions are derived from these counter experiences.
